When I unpacked these absolutely stunning tealight holders the sun shone brightly, its rays lighting up each one and casting their glow across the cream table. They are evocative pieces which are sure to bring cheer on a dull winter's day or chilly evening.

Phoenician Glass is handmade by Hebron Glass in the Occupied Territories whose artists incorporate reclaimed glass from local homes and businesses into their creations making them more sustainable. Even the fuel they use is reclaimed from local garages, but these strategies also enable Hebron Glass to work around the restrictions they encounter living under Occupation.

Phoenician glass is produced using an ancient "free blowing" technique that's been in use in the area since around 50 BCE but which the family that owns Hebron Glass and has been producing it for hundreds of years, has adapted and refined. Whilst air is blown into the glass, it is different to the glassblowing we usually see in the UK. Please be aware the technique can produce air bubbles on the surface that may then burst when cooling. This may look as if there is slight colour separation or damage on the finished pieces but this isn't the case: it is simply a feature of the craft.
