Olive Wood Heart

Handy to carry around in a pocket these hand carved olive wood hearts are not only beautiful to look at but lovely and soothing to hold. A perfect treat for self or others they can be used to self soothe, as a meditation aid, or simply for decoration. There's always room for more love in the world!

These hearts are hand made in Beit Sahour, Bethlehem, by artisans working in cooperation with Gloria Enterprise. Gloria Enterprise originally aimed to strengthen the olive wood industry which uses the trimmings from the annual pruning of olive trees to create sculptures, other decorative and practical goods. Now though, Gloria Enterprise trades with people who craft with mother of pearl as well. As a result they work with approximately 300 workshops.

Modern day Bethlehem is isolated from Jerusalem by the Isolation Wall, and is surrounded by two Israeli bypasses and by ever-expanding Israeli settlements.
